About Nadia
I was born in Milan, Italy and loved spending my summers in the Dolomites with grandparents and cousins. My curiosity and desire to explore the world started early on as I spent hours reading about places and looking at pictures in a large geography encyclopedia my father bought for us kids. My first adventure outside Europe took me to remote mountain regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and I was hooked. India and Nepal followed.
In the early 80s I got my dream job as a trekking guide in the Himalayas, and in 1983 I co-led the first Italian women climbing expedition to the Indian Himalaya. A year later I moved to California to marry my husband Leo, then President of Mountain Travel Sobek and a pioneer in his field. For over 20 years, I have been involved in adventure travel, from managing operations to developing new trips to unique destinations. Since 2008 I have been involved with a pioneering upscale adventure travel operator in Peru, as a marketing consultant. I have been blessed to be able to visit over 60 countries on all seven continents, explore remote mountain regions on foot, kayak and raft from Alaska to Antarctica.
Travel has given me inspiration, strength, an open mind, incredible memories, and many wonderful friends.
