Sunniva Sorby - Polar Explorer - How to Live Like a Traveler in Your Own Neighborhood
Sunniva Sorby is a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and was a part of the first historic Women’s South Pole Expedition in 1992-1993. She’s also an expedition leader and public speaker and has been to Antarctica countless times. Sunniva is about to embark on her newest project, Hearts in the Ice where she will conduct a citizen science campaign in the Arctic to raise awareness about climate change. She will live in a trapper’s cabin in Bamsebu, Svalbard, Norway for 9 months which includes the winter where she will be in complete darkness.
“I know it sounds silly, but I try to pretend that I’m a visitor, even in my own neighborhood. It’s just a part of my energy and makes me show up places grateful for the randomness for the people around me or where I end up”.
